Message Anonymization

     Confidentiality of communications in peer-to-peer networks is a fundamental requirement for systems where participants must be protected from surveillance. Existing anonymization methods either create significant delays, are vulnerable to traffic analysis, or require specialized infrastructure.

The Challenge

     In systems where participant anonymity is a condition of legitimacy — for example, in secret voting — encrypting message content is insufficient. It is also necessary to conceal the transmission route, metadata, and patterns of participant activity. Traffic analysis can de-anonymize participants even when message content is encrypted.

The Solution

     A message anonymization technology has been developed for peer-to-peer networks that eliminates the possibility of establishing a link between a participant and their actions through traffic or metadata analysis. The technology is integrated into the base network architecture and requires no additional infrastructure or specialized nodes.
